You’re invited to our 2017 Grant Announcement Business After Hours, to be held at the Bertha Frank Performing Arts Center on Thursday, April 20, 4:30pm – 6:00pm.  It is an Open House format, but there will be a presentation at 5:00pm, during which we will announce the recipients of nearly $40,000 in grants.  We will have light refreshments.  Hope you can join us.  But even if you can’t make it, the presentation will be Live Streamed on MPTV, Channel 20, and also played on a rotation after that night.

In addition to the $40,000 in competitive grants for 2017, we’ll also be distributing $16,500 in scholarships, $19,500 from Agency and Field of Interest Funds, and $102,000 from Designated and Donor Advised Funds.  That makes our 2017 grant total, $178,000; and our cumulative impact since our first year of grantmaking in 2003 – over $3 Million.

The Samantha Hou Memorial  - Peoria Humane Society/PAWS Fund was established in February.  The first distribution from the fund will go toward the construction of a cageless cat room at PAWS.  This cat room is finally completed and a grand opening celebration was held on Saturday, March 18th from 1-3 at PAWS in Peoria.  Visitors enjoyed refreshments, shelter tours, adoptions, prizes and much more, and a plaque was dedicated to those who donated time and materials to make the project happen, including the Samantha Hou Memorial Endowment Fund.

We’ve had other endowment funds started recently as well, including the Bethel Lutheran School Endowment Fund and the RHMA Harold Longenecker Endowment Fund.  We now have over 50 endowment funds that provide funding annually for many charitable causes, school programs, etc.  If you’ve never taken the time to see our list, please visit our website at www.cfmorton.org/fund-list.  It’ll list every fund, and the purpose of each.  We’re a one-stop-shop for donations that benefit our community and our residents.

While our growing list of funds is many,  you may have another idea for this community.  My door is always open.  Stop by and share your dream.  It can become a reality.
