Welcome to the Morton Pumpkin Festival!
We are so glad you’re here, in the hometown of Libby’s Pumpkin, to join us for our 46th annual celebration. We are proud to announce that this year’s celebration is sponsored by Libby’s Pumpkin, so watch for some fun information and activities from their team throughout the festival venues and attractions!
Our 2012 theme, Peace, Love, & Pumpkins, has really struck a chord with Morton citizens of all generations. If it’s popular in your household, stop by the Pumpkin Store, located on the main Festival Grounds, to select a theme t-shirt, necklace, pumpkin hat, key ring, or one of our many other pumpkin-themed items as a keepsake or gift. This year, we also have an online Pumpkin Store at www.mortonpumpkinfestival.org, for festival goers that want to avoid the lines or send items to family members and friends who have moved away. The online store will open August 1st.
Pumpkin Festival regulars will enjoy several new events at this year’s celebration. Our popular Pumpkin Idol singing competition is back with the addition of a junior version just for ages 8-15 to be featured on the Gold’s Gym Entertainment Stage on Friday evening. You won’t want to miss this fun, family-friendly entertainment. And for the bingo-lovers in your life, Pumpkin Bingo will be held during Senior Appreciation on Thursday afternoon at the Pumpkin Grille. Stop by with the whole family to enjoy this classic game with a pumpkin twist.
The Pumpkin Craft Faire, with 135 vendors, opens Friday, September 14th and will run through Sunday, September 16th in the parking lot located between Main Street and Adams Street, just 2 blocks west of the Main Festival Grounds. In addition to a wide variety of hand-made crafts, visitors will find official Pumpkin Grille Pork Chop Sandwiches and Pumpkin Sweet Shoppe Ice Cream at the Main Street Deli’s outdoor bistro. This is a great stop for unique holiday shopping and a snack on the go!
After your shopping excursion, continue a few blocks west to the Morton Public Library to experience The Wall That Heals, a traveling exhibit of the Vietnam Memorial making a special appearance during the Morton Pumpkin Festival in recognition of our 60’s theme. You won’t want to miss the opportunity to view this memorable attraction with friends, family, and the veterans in your life.
One of the most popular venues at the Morton Pumpkin Festival is our Pumpkin Sweet Shoppe, where you can purchase pumpkin ice cream, donuts, cookies, pie, cheesecake, and so much more! This year’s Shoppe is bigger and better than ever with 2 more registers and an express line to get customers through more quickly. Stop by to taste all things pumpkin during your visit!
And speaking of all things pumpkin, if you are planning to join us for the Pumpkin Pancake Breakfast and Parade, consider no-hassle parking at the Field Shopping Center. A free shuttle service, provided by Riverview Senior Living, will take visitors from the Field Shopping Center to the Main Festival Grounds and back throughout the day on Saturday, September 15th. This is a great way to avoid crowded downtown parking lots!
Whatever you decide to do at the Morton Pumpkin Festival, we hope you have a wonderful time here in the Pumpkin Capital of the World. The festival will be hosted this year by over 2,000 volunteers who can’t wait to make your experience memorable.
